February 2018 – Ban Phanôm, Luang Prabang, Laos – I think she remembered me, showing me her intricately designed textiles, as if she knew I’d like them. She was right. I loved them and bought from her last year. Phonesanit (or Nith, her nickname) is a master Tai Lue weaver, and I have come to appreciate her fine, well-crafted designs and natural colors. It was heartwarming to see her a year later again, and for her to recognize me, too. Here she is with her beautiful diamond field design in black.
